Seven people have been detained and approximately 53,000 euros have been seized in an operation against vote buying, announced in a Facebook post the acting Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Georgi Kandev. Within the framework of the operation, searches were conducted at four addresses in the village of Novachene, municipality of Botevgrad. During the procedural and investigative actions, three lists and a notebook with recorded names and sums, as well as a sum of approximately 53,000 euros, were discovered and seized.

Four rapid proceedings have been initiated under Article 167, paragraph 3 of the Penal Code. Work on the case continues, Kandev adds.

There are many times more reports of electoral violations for the vote on April 19th compared to that of October 27th, 2024, the caretaker Minister of Internal Affairs, Emil Dechev, told journalists in Plovdiv yesterday.
