Father and Son Arrested for Phone Scam at Danube Bridge Border Crossing

A 41-year-old man and his 21-year-old son were arrested at the Danube Bridge border crossing after receiving 7000 euros from a victim of a phone scam. An 83-year-old woman from Burgas handed over the money. Work on the case continues.

A 41-year-old man from Burgas and his 21-year-old son have been detained for involvement in a telephone scam, the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior in Burgas announced. The men were detained at the Danube Bridge border crossing.

Around 2:20 PM on February 12th of this year, a report was received at a police station in Burgas. Officers of the Border Police stopped a car with Stara Zagora registration for inspection, driven by the 41-year-old man, and his son was traveling with him.

During an inspection of the car's cabin, the sum of 7000 euros in various denominations was found in a plastic box from washing capsules. The money was handed to them around 9:30 AM the same day by an 83-year-old woman in the area of block 46 in the Meden Rudnik complex, who was questioned as a victim.

The two men have been detained for a period of up to 24 hours. Work on the case continues.

We remind you that last year, a Ukrainian citizen was detained in Burgas for a telephone scam. The 81-year-old victim handed over 900 leva, 500 euros, gold earrings and four gold rings, which she threw out the window. The Ukrainian made a full confession.
