The parliamentary committee on children, youth, and sports adopted a bill for a complete ban on nicotine pouches. MP Gabriel Valkov from “BSP – United Left” announced that these products are the “new drug” for young people.

Valkov emphasized that one pouch is equivalent to about half or one pack of cigarettes and that young people abuse them daily. Despite the ban on sales to persons under 18 years of age, there is a lack of control from the state.

Asked whether cigarettes should also be banned, Valkov replied that nicotine pouches are the “new fashion of the new generation” and lead to the use of cigarettes. According to him, the ban is necessary because of the risks of cancer.

Valkov urges parents to monitor whether their children use pouches.
