Over the past 24 hours, wind power plants in Europe generated a significant share of the total energy mix, reaching 9.7% of total electricity according to the latest WindEurope bulletin.
Capacity distribution
- Onshore wind farms: 8.9% (645 gigawatt-hours)
- Offshore wind farms: 0.8% (58 gigawatt-hours)
Leaders in the transition: Greece, Lithuania, and Croatia generate the largest share of wind energy relative to their total consumption.
Production by country
Germany remains the leading producer by volume with 246.3 GWh, followed by Greece and Spain. In Bulgaria, wind electricity production over the past 24 hours amounted to 2.4 GWh, which represents 3.4% of the national energy mix.
