BURGAS - In an extraordinary session and with a clear awareness of the urgency of the matter, the Burgas Municipal Council made a decision that will significantly accelerate the process of building a second entrance and exit for the rapidly growing Sarafovo neighborhood. At today's meeting, the councilors adopted a key report that paves the way for the preparation of a new Detailed Urban Plan - a Street Regulation Plan, which is of vital importance for the future of the area.
The report, initiated by Mayor Dimitar Nikolov, reflects the urgent need to improve the transportation infrastructure in the neighborhood. It is a direct response to the long-standing appeals and an official petition initiated by the residents of Sarafovo themselves, who are experiencing increasing difficulties in accessing their homes. Currently, the neighborhood_q_s only transport link is the busy Angel Dimitrov Street, which creates serious traffic problems, especially during peak hours.
New Road Artery to Alleviate Traffic
The new entrance/exit is planned to connect to national road I-9, which links Burgas and Sunny Beach. This new road artery, the construction of which is planned in the Manastirskoto area, aims to significantly alleviate the intensity of traffic on the only existing access to the neighborhood from the roundabout.
Currently, Sarafovo is one of the most dynamically developing areas of Burgas, where intensive construction of new residential and commercial buildings is underway. This rapid growth makes providing adequate transport accessibility not just desirable, but absolutely necessary to avoid a collapse of the road network. According to the technical assignment prepared by the Municipality of Burgas, the new transport service will operate one-way, in the direction of Burgas - Pomorie. The new intersection is planned to connect to the existing street network of the neighborhood on Angel Dimitrov Street through a new service street with a dimension of 12.00 m.
For this ambitious project to be realized, it is necessary to change part of the current street regulation. It is for this reason that Mayor Dimitar Nikolov sought the consent of the councilors for the preparation of a new Detailed Urban Plan - Street Regulation Plan. His proposal was unanimously supported, which is a clear sign of the broad support and conscious need for this project. The citizens present at the meeting reacted with visible relief to the news that such an important issue for them was finally receiving the attention it deserves. With this decision, the city authorities are giving the green light to a project that is expected to bring long-awaited relief to thousands of residents and guests of the neighborhood.
