Attention drivers: New restrictions for heavy trucks this summer

The Road Infrastructure Agency is introducing temporary traffic restrictions for trucks over 12 tons on the Trakia and Struma motorways on Fridays and Sundays, as well as bans during heatwaves exceeding 35 degrees Celsius.

Restrictions on the movement of trucks over 12 tons

From 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Fridays and Sundays, the movement of heavy goods vehicles over 12 tons is restricted on major arterial roads in the direction of Sofia. The measures cover:

The purpose of the temporary organization is to increase safety, reduce the conditions for traffic accidents caused by improper overtaking, and prevent traffic jams during peak hours.

Ban on trucks over 20 tons during heatwaves

Due to high summer temperatures, the Road Infrastructure Agency (RIA) is also introducing restrictions for trucks over 20 tons. Their movement will be stopped when:

The restriction applies to the districts of Ruse, Veliko Tarnovo, Razgrad, Targovishte, Pleven, Lovech, Gabrovo, Silistra, Haskovo, Pazardzhik, Plovdiv, and Stara Zagora.
