Scandal surrounding the management of Bulgarian water resources
The leader of "Vazrazhdane", Kostadin Kostadinov, leveled sharp criticisms from the parliamentary rostrum, demanding full information regarding the ongoing negotiations with Greece and Turkey. According to him, the state is not protecting its national interest regarding the management of the waters of the Arda, Tundzha, and Maritsa rivers.
"Given that we have sold 164 million cubic meters of water to Greece for 4.2 million leva, this means a price of two stotinki per cubic meter. At the same time, citizens in Ivaylovgrad pay six leva per cubic meter of water," Kostadinov stated.
Main concerns of "Vazrazhdane":
- Lack of transparency: Lack of clarity regarding the talks with Greek Prime Minister Mitsotakis and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.
- Economic disadvantage: Kostadinov criticizes the signed protocol with Greece, which cedes control over the waters of the Arda River for another five years.
- Question of territorial concessions: Demands for clarification regarding negotiations for granting a highway and territories to Turkey.
- Dismissals in the administration: The strange coincidence between Mitsotakis's visit and the dismissal of Deputy Minister Atanas Kostadinov, who was involved in the negotiations.
The party insists that the government stop viewing national resources as a commodity that can be sold off and begin conducting a policy with a vision for decades to come.
