The "National System 112" Directorate at the Ministry of Interior reported a busy week with a total of 45,523 calls. This represents an increase of 10.2% compared to the same period last year.
The 112 system continues to be a key element in crisis response, serving needs for emergency medical assistance, fire safety, and police intervention.
Main categories of signals:
- Emergency medical assistance: 14,908 signals.
- Road safety: 2,373 signals for traffic accidents and 84 for reckless driving.
- Fires: 4,397 cases, including the large-scale incident on the Trakia motorway.
- Crimes: 13,537 signals against persons and 1,091 against property.
The role of eCall in severe accidents
The eCall system proved its effectiveness during an incident near Primorsko, where it automatically transmitted the GPS coordinates of a crashed vehicle with Spanish citizens. This technology sends data about the location and number of passengers immediately after an impact.
- Number of eCall calls since the beginning of the year: 990
- eCall in accidents: 618
Thanks to the automated submission of information, the response time of the teams is significantly reduced, which is crucial for saving human lives.
