The Varna Court of Appeal upheld the amount of the monetary bail of 200,000 leva for the mayor of Varna, Blagomir Kotsev. The previous instance had changed his measure from "detention" to monetary bail. Kotsev is accused of participation in a criminal conspiracy, soliciting bribes, and coercion.
The court confirmed the validity of the charges and pointed out that the evidence, including witness testimonies and written documents, supports the accusations. The amount of the bail was determined in accordance with Kotsev's financial capabilities, taking into account his income in the period 2022-2024.
The court rejected the defense's claims of insufficient investigation into Kotsev's financial status, emphasizing that the evidence refutes these claims. The judicial act is not subject to appeal.
