Four cases of domestic violence rocked Shumen in one night
Officers from the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior in Shumen detained four men following a series of reports of domestic violence and death threats. The incidents were recorded within a 24-hour period.
Unfortunately, data from the Ministry of Interior show an alarming 18% increase in domestic violence cases in the region for 2025 – a total of 81 cases compared to 66 for the same period last year.
Chronology of the violence:
- Zlatna Niva village: A 32-year-old man was detained after striking the woman he lives with in the head.
- Shumen, "Akatsiya" St.: A 52-year-old man was arrested for threatening his wife with murder following a family dispute.
- Stoyan Mihaylovski village: A 46-year-old man was detained after threatening a 23-year-old woman with murder.
- Shumen, "Filip Totyu" St.: A 36-year-old man was detained for beating his wife.
Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated in all cases. The perpetrators have been held in custody for a period of up to 24 hours. The police urge citizens to report acts of aggression immediately in order to prevent more serious consequences.
