An information meeting was held in Pomorie regarding the expansion of the separate waste collection system on P. K. Yavorov Street. The meeting was part of the "Holistic Approach to Waste Management" project of Pomorie Municipality, funded by the EU's LIFE program.

The new households, outside the pilot zone, will participate in the "door-to-door" scheme with the aim of applying the "pay as you throw" principle. Those present at the meeting were acquainted with the introduced changes and asked questions.

The types of waste to be collected separately were presented: paper and cardboard, plastic and metal, glass, as well as the way of their disposal. Emphasis was placed on the benefits of separate collection.

The new rules apply to residents of P. K. Yavorov Street (from the Evangelical Church to Ivan Vazov Secondary School), Knyaz Boris I Street and the adjacent streets.

Each household received yellow bags for plastic, paper and metal, and gray bags for mixed waste. The bags will be collected every Wednesday from the front door.

Brown kitchen bins with biodegradable bags for food waste have also been distributed, which will replace the green bins. The truck will transport biodegradable waste to the Anaerobic Installation - Burgas, on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

The participants expressed interest and discussed proposals. The municipality promises information campaigns and dialogue, emphasizing the responsibilities of households.

With this initiative, Pomorie Municipality aims for sustainable waste management and environmental protection.
