In Burgas, they are giving new life to Christmas trees. The initiative is by the "Zelena Strandzha" association and aims to plant the unwanted live fir trees from people's homes, which complemented the festive atmosphere, outdoors instead of throwing them away.

Today, the "Sveta Troitsa" park in the seaside town was enriched with Christmas trees. Tools for planting were provided for those who participated in the action, as well as professional advice during the digging of holes and the planting of the trees.

"We have been conducting this action for more than 10 years, so that more people can participate and give these beautiful trees a chance to grow into big trees. We do everything professionally, starting from the beginning – from the nursery where they were produced, going through their journey home and their stay during the holidays, to the choice of a suitable place and the correct planting of the trees. Not forgetting that we must take care of them in the next one, two or three years. At least to water them," explained Vladimir Dimitrov from the "Zelena Strandzha" association.

For 10 years, more than 100 fir trees have been planted in various spaces between buildings and parks in Burgas through the initiative. The organizers say that not all trees have survived, but this does not stop people from trying to give new life to their Christmas tree.

"We want to continue to enjoy our Christmas trees, as the idea is not only during the holidays and after the holidays are over to throw them away. This is about life, life goes on and we will continue to take care of them. And the best thing is that we are setting an example for the children," said Gergana, who planted her Christmas tree.

The initiative will continue next year, although most households use artificial Christmas trees and live fir trees are a rarity for the holidays.
