The Transfusion Hematology Department of UMBAL-Burgas appeals to everyone who is in Burgas this month to join a major donation campaign, the goal of which is to achieve a record number of 10,000 blood donors by the end of the year.
In 2024, the hospital set a historical record for all organized blood donation in the region – 10,833 volunteers and 9,176 donors. This year the number will be exceeded, but the desire of those working in the department is to end the year with 10,000 donors.
"Burgas residents have always proven their empathy and willingness to help. Let's join forces and do a good deed before the holidays. Each donor can save three human lives," explains the blood donation sector team.
Famous personalities also support the cause with their "Voices for Life".
"When you donate blood, you donate a great hope," shared the singer Toni Dimitrova.
Actor Asen Blatechki added:
"Let's be kind and help each other!"
Kotseto Kalki is a regular donor and visits the department every time he is in Burgas.
The appeal is clear: more people should take the time and donate blood, because the need is constant, and each donation can save up to three human lives. The campaign is open to all healthy people aged 18 to 65. Blood donation is safe and beneficial, and donors receive two days of paid leave, which they can use to merge with the holidays and a longer vacation.
The working hours of the blood donation sector are every weekday from 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., including the days between the holidays – December 22, 23, 29, 30.
Tomorrow there will also be an outreach blood donation campaign in the Municipality of Ruen, in the ritual hall.
