The Ukrainian representative Rustem Umerov extended an official invitation for an international high-level meeting aimed at achieving lasting peace between the two countries. During negotiations in Istanbul, specific steps for de-escalation of the conflict were outlined.
In an official statement, Umerov emphasized the exceptional importance of the participation of Presidents Trump and Erdogan as potential mediators. He stressed that the primary goal is to organize a meeting between the leaders before the end of August.
A key moment in diplomatic negotiations was the proposal for a complete cessation of military actions. The Ukrainian side insists on an immediate halt to attacks against civilian infrastructure as a first step towards a long-term agreement.
On the Russian side, Vladimir Medinsky confirmed the achievement of an agreement for a new exchange of prisoners of war. Additionally, issues of returning detained citizens and forming three working groups for further negotiations were discussed.
As a gesture of goodwill, a second exchange of bodies of 1200 fallen soldiers was carried out, demonstrating a certain readiness for humanitarian dialogue between the conflicting parties.
