A specialized operation in Varna has uncovered a large-scale scheme for selling counterfeit goods. The police seized over 1,500 items bearing the logos of global brands with a total value of nearly 200,000 euros.

Large-scale operation against counterfeit goods in Varna

Officers from the Economic Police Department at the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior in Varna conducted a successful specialized operation against the distribution of goods infringing on intellectual property rights.

During the inspection, a total of 1,585 items were discovered and seized, which imitate well-known global trademarks without the permission of their owners.

According to preliminary data from investigators, the market value of the seized goods amounts to approximately 190,200 euros (over 370,000 levs). A pre-trial proceeding has already been initiated in the case under Article 172b of the Penal Code, which provides for serious penalties for the use of a trademark without the consent of the rights holder.
