The tourism industry reacts sharply against road repairs
The main organizations in the tourism sector – the National Tourism Board, the Bulgarian Hotel and Restaurant Association, and others – have expressed strong indignation at the practice of repairing key road arteries in the middle of the summer season.
"For another year, we are witnessing a situation where major road arteries are closed during the period of the most intense tourist flow," the official statement reads.
Main demands of the business:
- Introduction of a mandatory requirement to align repair schedules with active seasons.
- Stopping large-scale road works on routes to the sea and mountains during the summer months.
- Creation of a coordination mechanism between institutions and businesses.
- Development of a national calendar for strategic infrastructure repairs.
According to industry representatives, the current situation creates immense stress for travelers and tarnishes Bulgaria's image as a destination.
