Great performance by the fencers of the fencing club “Corsair” - Burgas at the international fencing tournament TOUCHE SABRE CUP 2026, which took place in Romania.
Ekaterina Chausheva won the title in the girls under 15 years old in the competition of more than 40 fencers. She started a little hesitantly and recorded three wins and three losses in the preliminary group, which gave her a weaker number in the direct elimination (20).
In the first duel to enter the sixteenth she prevailed convincingly with 15-5. In the second match, Ekaterina faced a contested and heart-stopping match against Sara Elbibani of Romania, who was ranked No. 4. Our girl showed remarkable concentration and skills and won with 15-14. After that, the young competitor from Burgas easily overcame her remaining rivals and deservedly lifted the victory cup.
Another three competitors of “Corsair” found a place in the top eight of their age group. Lora Ganeva won 5th place in the girls under 13 years old, Petar Ivanov remained a step away from the podium, taking 6th place in the 13-year-old boys, and Rosalin Angelov became 7th in the boys under 15 years old.
The competitors who defended the honor of “Corsair”, but failed to find a place in the top eight are: Mihaela Yordanova, Stoyan Koychev, Viktoria Panayotova, Ralitsa Korseva, Stelyana Yordanova, Siana Todorova, Nikol Zlateva and Ivalen Popov.
