In a powerful diplomatic meeting in Scotland, the American head of state Donald Trump issued an unprecedented categorical ultimatum to Russia regarding the military situation in Ukraine. The president officially reduced the initial 50-day period to an extremely short 10-12-day period to reach a peaceful agreement.
"We have no indications of progress in negotiations," Trump told international media, openly demonstrating disappointment with the actions of Russian President Vladimir Putin. The American leader emphasized that the ongoing shelling of Ukrainian cities is unacceptable and requires an immediate diplomatic response.
In case of non-compliance with the ultimatum, the US is ready to take extremely strict economic measures. Washington announced readiness to introduce 100-percent secondary tariffs on countries maintaining trade relations with Russia, as well as targeted sanctions aimed at the Kremlin's energy sector.
From the Ukrainian side, the news was received extremely positively. The head of the presidential office, Andriy Yermak, described the shortened deadline as a "clear signal that Russia will no longer receive additional time for attacks".
Diplomatic sources from the European Union, however, warn of possible manipulative tactics from the Russian side. Experts believe that Moscow may try to delay negotiations through "pseudo-diplomacy" while continuing its military operations in the Donetsk and Kharkiv regions.
International analysts note that the new ultimatum coincides with an intensive Russian offensive, which suggests an attempt to maximize territorial expansion before the deadline expires.
