US President Donald Trump has abandoned the deadline set for tomorrow, by which Ukraine was supposed to agree to the US-backed peace plan. This was reported by Reuters, reported by BTA.
Trump told reporters on board the government plane “Air Force One“ that progress had been made in the consultations. And that Moscow has agreed to concessions, but did not specify exactly what they were.
Last week, the US President said he wanted Ukraine to accept the American peace agreement by Thursday. “The deadline for me is when everything is over,” Trump said today on board the government plane.
He also noted that Russia appears to have an advantage in the war and that it is in Ukraine's interest to reach an agreement. Part of Ukraine's territory “will probably be captured by Russia” in the next few months. Trump also said this. And he added that negotiations are currently underway with European countries on security guarantees for Ukraine.
US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that his plan to end the war in Ukraine had been “refined” and that his envoy Steve Witkoff would meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, and the US Secretary of the Army - Dan Driscoll - would talk to Ukrainian officials in Kyiv, Associated Press reported. Trump admitted the possibility of eventually meeting in person with Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, but not before greater progress is made in the negotiations.
“I think we are very close to closing a deal. We'll see,” Trump said during an annual ceremony on the eve of Thanksgiving. “I thought it would be easier, but I think we are making progress,” he added.
