Alarming data on the road situation in the country
A total of 25 serious traffic accidents have occurred in the country over the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reported. Fortunately, there are no fatalities, but 33 people have been injured in the road incidents.
Since the beginning of the month, 46 people have died in traffic accidents in the country, and since the beginning of the year, the number has reached 264.
The situation in Sofia remains busy – over the past 24 hours, four serious and 27 minor traffic accidents have been registered, in which seven people were injured.
Increase in fatalities compared to 2025
The statistics show a worrying trend. Since the beginning of the year, the number of injured in road accidents is 4,565. A comparative analysis by the MIA shows:
- Fatalities for the same period in 2025: 231 people.
- Fatalities for the same period in 2026: 264 people.
- Difference: 33 more road users killed this year.
