A series of tragic drownings marked August 20 along the coast of Burgas region, with police departments in Sozopol, Primorsko, Nesebar, and Tsarevo registering four separate incidents with fatal outcomes.
In the area of the beach near "Kavaci-yug" camping, the tragedy struck a 72-year-old resident of Sofia, whose body was subsequently transported for forensic examination. Parallel to this incident, a 35-year-old Czech tourist who had arrived in Bulgaria four days earlier drowned at the northern beach of Primorsko near the seventh rescue post.
Especially shocking was the case on the beach in "Sunny Beach", where a 13-year-old girl from Moldova found herself in a critical situation. According to information from her parents, the child was suddenly seized by a panic attack amid the waves, which caused her rapid transportation to the University Multiprofile Hospital in Burgas with a life-threatening condition.
The series of incidents continued with a tragic end in the unguarded zone of "Silistar" beach, where a 41-year-old man from Sofia met his death in the sea waves. An additional incident was recorded in the port area of Tsarevo, where the body of an 80-year-old man was found.
The series of deaths underscores the exceptional importance of caution and adherence to safe practices during sea vacations, especially among adults and children.
