A tornado hit a building site in the Fevzi Çakmak district of Kepez in the Turkish city of Antalya, killing four construction workers, Antalya governor Hulusi Şahin said.
The storm wrecked two containers where the workers lived and swept away all five men inside. Two died at the scene and two died in hospital. The fifth man is injured but in a stable condition.
The tornado also toppled a crane on the same site, but no one was killed or hurt there. Şahin said the crane's fall did not cause the deaths or injuries.
Teams from the 112 emergency service, police and firefighters went to the site after the alert. The governor inspected the area and spoke to reporters.
"We are dealing with a very unusual natural event, because no other part of the city has reported a storm or tornado," Şahin said. He added that buildings around the site were not damaged.
Şahin offered his condolences to the families of the dead and wished the injured man a swift recovery.
Antalya is under a yellow warning for heavy rain, issued by Turkey's General Directorate of Meteorology.
