Several mandatory test flights were successfully performed on the rehabilitated runway of Burgas Airport as part of the procedures before its commissioning. This was announced by the concessionaire of the airport, "Fraport Twin Star Airport Management" AD.
The first landing of a test flight was made this afternoon. Not only the surface was checked, but also the newly built safety taxiing systems. Such tests are standard practice and a mandatory condition before the commissioning of any newly built or rehabilitated airport infrastructure of this type, the concessionaire specified.
The aircraft, which is specially equipped for the purpose, arrived from Sofia, and after landing, a series of test takeoffs and landings were performed to fully check all systems.
At the beginning of the month, the management of Burgas Airport announced that the official opening of the runway would be on April 29. The first flights are expected from May 1, and this year connectivity with new destinations in Europe will be ensured.
