On April 28, starting at 11:00 AM, in front of the building of the Professional High School of Mechanical Electrical Engineering and Electronics – Burgas, a solemn unveiling of a bust-monument to Georgi Dipchev – the founder of the school and its first director – will take place.

The event is an expression of gratitude for the personality and work of the man who laid the foundation for one of the most established professional high schools in Burgas and in the country. With his initiative, foresight, and sense of social duty, Georgi Dipchev stands at the core of the creation of technical education in the city and of an institution that has been preparing generations of young people for professional and social realization for a whole century.

Georgi Dipchev was born in 1887 in Panagyurishte. He was the son of Rayna Popgeorgieva and Vasil Dipchev. He graduated from the Sea School in Varna and was part of the crew of the legendary minesweeper “Drazki”. After the First World War, his life became connected to Burgas, where, driven by a clear awareness of the need for technically trained personnel, he became the initiator for the creation of the Mechanical Technical School. Thus, his name remains forever connected with the beginning of technical education in the city and with the history of today's PGMEE.

The unveiling of the monument is a natural continuation of the celebrations related to the 100th anniversary of PGMEE, marked last year. The construction of the bust-monument became possible thanks to former and current students and teachers of the school, who supported the initiative by purchasing a jubilee coin created specially for the centenary of the high school.

This gesture is a clear sign of the strong bond between the school and its alumni – a bond that does not end with graduation but remains alive as memory, gratitude, and belonging. The initiative shows that PGMEE is not just an educational institution, but a community that respects its roots and preserves its builders.

With the creation of this memorial, PGMEE pays deserved honor to Georgi Dipchev – a person with an indisputable contribution to the development of technical education in Burgas and to the building of a tradition that continues to evolve even today. For a whole century, the school has been preparing young people with knowledge, skills, professionalism, and responsibility, and its name remains a symbol of quality, continuity, and orientation towards the future.

Representatives of institutions, teachers, students, parents, alumni, donors, and friends of the school are expected to participate in the solemn ceremony.

The monument is the work of sculptor Alexander Alexandrov.

The management of PGMEE – Burgas invites representatives of the media to attend the event and cover this important moment in the history of the school.
