World Adherence to Therapy Day: Why do half of Bulgarians not adhere to treatment?

High blood pressure is a major problem in Bulgaria, with half of the population not adhering to prescribed treatment. Doctors are calling for a national cardiology plan and increased awareness to improve the control of cardiovascular diseases.

Every other Bulgarian suffers from untreated or uncontrolled high blood pressure, which is a leading cause of cardiovascular diseases and mortality. This was emphasized at a press conference on the occasion of World Adherence to Therapy Day.
