Svetla Daskalova, who was today appointed as the judge-rapporteur in the case against the mayor of Varna, Blagomir Kotsev, has ordered that he be transferred from Sofia to the prison in the seaside city, the press center of the Regional Court announced.

With a second order, she has scheduled an open court hearing for November 27 to consider the requests from Kotsev's lawyers for a change in his measure of restraint, 'detention'.

The mayor of Varna was detained on July 8, 2025. On November 13, the Sofia City Prosecutor's Office filed an indictment with the Sofia City Court. Four other defendants were also brought to trial along with Kotsev, for a total of 12 crimes. On November 19, the Supreme Court of Cassation decided that the case should be considered by the Regional Court in Varna, and not by the Sofia City Court.
