Students from the Association of Medical Students in Bulgaria - Burgas branch (AMS-Burgas) organized the educational initiative "Teddy Bear Hospital" at Kindergarten "Hans Christian Andersen". The aim of the initiative is to reduce children's fear of doctors and to promote a positive attitude towards medical care.
The children had the opportunity to become "little doctors" by bringing their teddy bears for "examination" and "treatment". Together with the medical students, they used safe medical materials, such as plasters, bandages, and stethoscopes. Sharp objects or materials that could pose a risk were not used.
The main goal is for children to become familiar with the medical environment through the "learning by doing" method. The event was honored by representatives of Burgas Municipality and the management of Kindergarten "H. Kr. Andersen".
The initiative is part of a national campaign of AMSB, which is held in different cities in Bulgaria.
AMS is a non-governmental organization that organizes educational and health-awareness initiatives.
