Cold weather has enveloped the country, with temperatures being negative in almost all regions in the early morning hours. The lowest measured temperature is minus 7 degrees in Dragoman, and in most of the country the values are between minus 3 and minus 5 degrees.

The meteorologist from the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH), Anastasia Stoycheva, said that the feeling of cold is significantly stronger due to the wind and snow cover. The feeling is for temperatures between minus 10 and minus 18 degrees.

During the day, there will be a temporary increase in temperatures, but the warming will be short-lived.

As early as Saturday, the cloud cover will increase and new precipitation will begin. Initially in the Upper Thracian Lowland and along the Black Sea coast, it will be rain, but with the drop in temperatures, it will quickly turn into snow.

Dangerous winter phenomena, including icy conditions, are also expected. On Sunday, the precipitation will be almost everywhere from snow, with significant amounts and drifts expected in Northeastern Bulgaria.

After the precipitation, a sharp and stronger cooling is coming. At the beginning of next week, the minimum temperatures will drop to minus 10 – minus 15 degrees, and on Monday and Tuesday, there will be negative daytime temperatures in parts of the country.

The meteorologists warn that the snow will persist and call for increased caution when traveling.
