Representatives of the League of Young Bulgarians in Ukraine received a warm welcome in the building of the National Assembly, announced the chairman of the Defense Committee in the parliament, Hristo Gadjev from GERB-SDS. The occasion for the event was the Day of Bessarabian Bulgarians, celebrated on October 29.
On this day, in the distant year of 1838, the "Holy Transfiguration of the Lord" temple-monument in the city of Bolgrad was consecrated. It is this date, October 29, that has been celebrated as the Day of Bessarabian Bulgarians since 1998, Gadjev recalled in his post on the social network Facebook.
"In this regard, together with Yordanka Fandakova, we were very pleased to welcome a group of our compatriots from the League of Young Bulgarians in Ukraine, who study and live in Sofia. They were also greeted by the plenary hall," Gadjev shared. He emphasized the importance of the integration of these young people, as well as the maintenance of close ties with the Bulgarian communities in Ukraine and Moldova, as a key priority in GERB's policy.
The atmosphere in the parliament building on this day carried a special sense of celebration. In the early hours of the day, an exhibition was opened in the Marble Foyer of the Parliament, presenting the work of two Bessarabian artists - Ivan and Zlata Shishman. Those present had the opportunity to enjoy their works, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of the Bessarabian Bulgarians.
