Currently, the phone lines of the Consumer Protection Commission (CPC) are calm, with isolated reports mainly regarding refusals to pay with euros or leva, announced the acting chairman of the CPC, Alexander Kolyachev, on BNT.

According to him, the situation is generally calm in the first days after the introduction of the euro in Bulgaria. Kolyachev noted that there is a one-month period of dual circulation of currencies.

In addition to the planned inspections, the CPC is working jointly with the National Revenue Agency (NRA) on a strict plan-program until August 8th. Traders are not allowed to give change in both euros and leva. Consumers can refuse a transaction or file a report with the CPC in case of a violation.

Customers can pay both in leva and in euros if they do not have enough of one currency. There is a limitation on the number of coins when paying - up to 50 pieces.

Since August 8th last year, the prices of basic food products have not increased significantly. The CPC believes that traders are behaving adequately. The CPC will sanction traders in case of deviations. Repeated inspections of hairdressing salons are being carried out, and as a result of the first inspection, there have been changes in prices in some of them.
