Deputy Foreign Minister Marin Raykov issued an urgent warning to Bulgarians in the Middle East due to an increased security risk.
“The situation is on the verge of a dramatic deterioration,” Raykov stated and urged Bulgarians residing in Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, and Iran to leave the region immediately while there is still a possibility to do so. He emphasized that every civilian or commercial flight should be used and travel to these countries should be suspended.
Raykov explained that for these countries, a risk index of level 5 has been determined, which means the possibility of termination of any evacuation possibilities by commercial and civilian means.
“In a situation of closed airspace, the Bulgarian state will not be able to continue sending free evacuation flights,” he emphasized.
Raykov also advised Bulgarians not to plan trips with layovers at airports in the region.
