Bulgaria displaces the Mediterranean in French travel plans
Bulgaria is becoming a key alternative to popular Mediterranean destinations, reports the authoritative French publication "Le Figaro". With accessibility of less than a three-hour flight from Paris, our country is gaining increasing popularity.
"I was looking for a European place that wasn't expensive and was easy to reach from France," shares 27-year-old Sasha Maradudin.
Why does Bulgaria attract French tourists?
- Easy access: Less than a 3-hour flight from Paris.
- The Euro: From January 1, 2026, the currency simplifies payments.
- Affordable prices: All-inclusive vacations at competitive prices.
The interest of French tourists in Eastern Europe increased by 8.8% in the first half of 2026. Major tour operators like TUI France are investing in new club hotels in Albena and Primorsko, reporting over 80% growth in the demand for organized vacations.
The profile of tourists is also changing – more and more young people, as well as families with children, are choosing the Bulgarian Black Sea coast for their summer holiday.
