We have submitted a proposal for an urgent hearing in a closed session of the Ministers of Economy, Energy, Finance, and the head of the State Agency “National Security“ to familiarize us with the real situation on the fuel market, announced the co-chairman of “Yes, Bulgaria“ Ivaylo Mirchev to the journalists gathered in the marble foyer of the parliament. The atmosphere was tense, the pulse of political life visibly reflected the escalating concern about the fuel issue.

This imperative action comes after a proposal for a temporary measure restricting the export of diesel and aviation fuel from the country was submitted earlier today. The initiative was undertaken by several parliamentary groups, including GERB, “BSP – United Left“, “There is such a people“ and “DPS – New Beginning“.

"We voted “for“ the ban, because this is nationally responsible behavior," Mirchev emphasized. This underlines the unanimity that has been achieved, despite the different political platforms of the parties.

The MP expressed concern about the sufficiency of reserves. "I am worried that the reserves will not last for 90 days and not all companies are importing the necessary fuels into the state warehouses," he explained. Mirchev drew a parallel between the preventive measures and the current urgency of the bill. According to him, if the measures had been taken earlier, there would have been no need for such a speedy submission. "The urgent submission of the bill is not something regular," Mirchev emphasized.

The political observer can feel the tension that has accumulated. The MP recalled that nine days ago a similar appeal had been made for a hearing in the parliament of the responsible ministers, with the aim of a detailed acquaintance with the situation. However, this appeal was rejected.
