In a sign of deep sorrow and solidarity with the tragic loss of three young lives, taken in a serious accident on the Sozopol – Chernomorets road, the Mayor of Sozopol Municipality made the difficult decision to declare Monday, October 20th, a day of mourning on the territory of the municipality. The decision, which weighs heavily on all residents of Sozopol, is a symbol of respect for the memory of the deceased and of compassion for their loved ones.
On this day of universal sadness, the flags flying on all municipal buildings and public places will be lowered to half-mast. This is a visual reminder of the deep sadness that surrounds the community.
All planned public celebrations and entertainment events organized on the territory of Sozopol Municipality will be canceled. An exception will be made only for events of a personal nature, in order to acknowledge the need for people to share their grief with their families and loved ones.
Organizers of events that, for specific reasons, cannot be canceled will have to adjust their program to the declared mourning. They are expected to begin the events with a minute of silence in memory of the deceased youths. This is a gesture of respect and admiration for the memory of the young people who are no longer with us.
Mayor Tihomir Yanakiev, along with the entire municipal administration, expresses the most sincere condolences to the families and loved ones of the deceased children. This gesture of sympathy is an attempt to alleviate the pain of those who have lost the most precious thing – their children. The words of sympathy spoken by the administration are a testament to the strong connection between the local authorities and its residents in this difficult moment.
