The leader of the Bulgarian Socialist Party, Atanas Zafirov, announced at an official briefing that the political formation is preparing a large-scale legislative initiative aimed at preventing potential inflationary processes on the eve of adopting the single European currency.

During a meeting of the Party's Executive Bureau, key challenges related to the upcoming currency transformation were discussed. Zafirov emphasized the need to create mechanisms that guarantee peace and security for Bulgarian citizens during this sensitive economic transition.

Currently, active coordination of the bill with coalition partners in parliament is ongoing. The main goal of the document is to prevent unjustified price increases and ensure a smooth transition to the Eurozone.

In addition to the currency change topic, the socialists also discussed other important national issues, including the reform in the railway sector. The party's deputy chairman, Iliyan Yonchev, stated that Bulgaria must fulfill its commitments under the Recovery and Resilience Plan related to the modernization of the transport system.

Yonchev stressed that the reform in "Bulgarian State Railways" should not lead to an increase in ticket prices, especially for socially vulnerable groups. He insisted that the state must guarantee accessible transport and protect the labor rights of employees in the sector.

Additionally, party leader Kaloyan Pargov announced that the traditional Buzludzha gathering this year will be held on August 2nd under the motto "Buzludzha 2025 - History and Future", which symbolizes the continuity and vision of the political formation.

The experts from the BSP are categorical that the government must show exceptional caution and precision when introducing the euro to minimize the risks of potential inflationary processes.

The bill is expected to be submitted to parliament in the coming weeks and will include specific mechanisms for control and prevention of unjustified price increases for goods and services.
