This recipe combines tender beef steak with a rich aromatic butter, seasoned with mustard, onion, and garlic. The dish is suitable for both a weekday dinner and a special occasion, and preparing it is not complicated and does not take much time.

Preparing the aromatic mustard butter

Heat the oil in a suitable pan and fry the mustard seeds briefly, for about a minute, to release their aroma. Then add the finely chopped onion and garlic and cook for about 5 minutes over medium heat until they soften and turn slightly golden.

Remove from the heat and let them cool slightly. In a bowl, mix the soft butter with the mustard, add the fried onion with garlic and mustard seeds, season with salt and pepper, and stir until smooth. The butter can be shaped into a roll in foil and refrigerated to firm up.

Preparing the beef steak

Let the beef steaks reach room temperature, then pat them dry well with paper towels. Season with salt and sprinkle with freshly ground black pepper on both sides.

In a well-heated pan with a little oil, sear the meat over high heat, cooking for a few minutes on each side according to the desired degree of doneness – from slightly pink to well-done. After cooking, let the steak "rest" for a short time so that it remains juicy when sliced.

Serving

Arrange the cooked steaks on plates and place a piece of the aromatic mustard butter on top of each one, which will begin to melt over the hot meat. The dish can be served with a side dish of your choice – roasted vegetables, potatoes, or a fresh salad.
