A total of 582 snowplows are treating the road surfaces on the republican roads, announced the Road Infrastructure Agency (API).
Temporarily, due to heavy snowfall and cleaning, the passage of heavy goods vehicles through the Prevala and Troyan passes is restricted, API said.
The republican roads have been treated and are passable in winter conditions, the road agency added.
The treatment of road surfaces continues to ensure the safe travel of drivers. The teams of the road maintenance companies are taking the necessary actions to ensure traffic in winter conditions. To increase traffic safety and if necessary, it is possible to close individual sections for the treatment of the routes with inert materials. Where necessary due to strong winds, snowdrifts or poor visibility, traffic may be temporarily restricted until meteorological conditions improve and the road is cleaned, the API press center also said.
The road agency appeals to drivers to travel with cars prepared for winter conditions, to drive at a speed appropriate to winter conditions, not to undertake risky maneuvers, as well as overtaking snowplow equipment.
Earlier today, API announced that 377 snowplows were treating the republican roads.
