The jump in fuel prices and its direct impact on the economy, business competitiveness, and household expenses are a pan-European problem for which all EU countries are seeking quick and sustainable solutions. This was stated by the caretaker Minister of Transport and Communications Korman Ismailov at a meeting with the Slovakian Ambassador to Bulgaria Vasil Grivna, the press center of the ministry announced.

Ismailov pointed out that in a period of rising prices, transport should not further increase the cost of goods and services. The statement specifies that an intensive dialogue is being conducted with neighboring countries to accelerate infrastructure projects. Work is underway with Greece to increase the capacity of border checkpoints, and with Turkey, a common understanding has been reached to facilitate and speed up the passage of goods through the border checkpoint at Kapitan Andreevo. Expansion of the checkpoint, doubling of the railway line to the Greek and Turkish borders, as well as the construction of the “Black Sea” highway are planned.

The press center notes that the Slovakian Ambassador Vasil Grivna expressed gratitude for the good organization of Bulgarian airspace, which allowed the evacuation of European citizens from the Middle East.

BTA recalls that at the beginning of the week, the caretaker Minister of Transport and Communications Korman Ismailov and the Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia Jasna Ognjanovac discussed the possibilities of launching a year-round air connection between Sofia and Zagreb.
