NIMH forecasts a hot day with up to 37° in Sofia and cooler weather by the sea. In the afternoon, showers and thunderstorms are possible in Western Bulgaria and the mountains.

On July 27 in Bulgaria, sunny and hot weather will prevail, and later in the day, cumulus clouds will develop over the western half of the country and in the mountains with possible brief showers and thunderstorms. According to NIMH data, more noticeable warming is expected, while the Black Sea coast will remain cooler, but with a sea breeze and moderate swell.

Burgas and the region

In Burgas and the region, July 27 will be a sunny and hot day. The air temperature will reach about 30°–32°, and the probability of precipitation will be low, with a higher chance for brief local showers only in the late afternoon hours in the interior of the region.

The sea water temperature near Burgas will be around 25°–26°C, and the wind will be a moderate southeasterly, which will be felt more noticeably along the coast in the afternoon. The sea state will be around 1–2 Douglas scale, providing relatively calm conditions for the beach. The preliminary safety assessment for swimming is green flag.

Sofia and the region

In Sofia and the surrounding area, the weather will remain hot, with maximum temperatures reaching about 37°. The day will be mostly sunny, and in the afternoon, cumulus clouds and isolated brief showers are possible on the periphery of the region.

The wind will be light to moderate, and towards the afternoon hours, it will orient from the west-northwest. Since the area has no sea water, no swimming flag applies, but with high temperatures, it is advisable to avoid prolonged exposure to the sun.

Eastern Bulgaria

In Eastern Bulgaria, sunny and very warm weather will prevail, with temperatures between 32° and 37°. Precipitation is unlikely, and the majority of the region will remain under the influence of dry and hot air.

The wind will be light to moderate, most often from the southeast, while the coast will benefit from the sea breeze. Sea water along the eastern coast will be around 25°–26°C, and the swell will remain around 1–2 Douglas scale. For swimming, the guide is a green flag.

Western Bulgaria

In Western Bulgaria, the day will be hotter and more unstable in the afternoon. Maximum temperatures will be between 37° and 42°, as cumulus and cumulonimbus clouds will develop in some areas with brief showers and thunderstorms.

The wind will be light to moderate, and in the afternoon, it will orient from the west-northwest and may temporarily strengthen during storm cells. There is no sea water, so no swimming assessment applies, but open areas will require caution due to the heat and storms.

In the mountains

In the mountainous regions on July 27, it will be mostly sunny in the morning hours, but in the afternoon, cumulus clouds will develop over the massifs in Western Bulgaria and it will rain and thunder in places. The air temperature at 1200 meters will be around 31°, and at 2000 meters – around 23°.

The wind will be up to moderate, from the south-southeast, while by the evening it will orient from the west-southwest. There is no sea water, and for tourists, the day will be suitable for early hikes, after which the risk of thunderstorms will increase.

Black Sea coast

Along the Black Sea coast, it will be sunny and hot, with maximum temperatures between 29° and 32°. The probability of precipitation will be low, and in the afternoon, a moderate southeasterly wind will blow, which will bring a fresh sea effect.

The sea water temperature will be around 25°–26°C, and the sea state will remain around 1–2 Douglas scale. This creates very good conditions for the beach and swimming, so the preliminary assessment is a green flag.
