On July 24, the weather in Bulgaria will remain summery, but not entirely calm. According to the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology, there will be more clouds, brief rainfall in some places, and moderate to temporarily strong winds in certain regions, while the Black Sea coast will remain relatively more suitable for the beach.
Burgas and the region
In Burgas and the surrounding area, the day will begin with scattered clouds, and brief showers are possible in the afternoon. The expected air temperature is about 26° during the day and 17°–18° in the morning and evening, with a probability of precipitation of about 66% and amounts of up to about 4.0 mm.
The wind in Burgas will be semi-strong, with a speed of about 10 m/s, which may create a more unpleasant sensation along the coast. The seawater temperature near Burgas will remain at pleasant levels – around 25–27°C, and the sea state will be from slight to moderate. The preliminary assessment for swimming safety is a yellow flag due to the wind and possible showers, although the sea remains warm.
Sofia and the region
In Sofia and the area, July 24 will bring variable weather with more clouds in the afternoon. Temperatures will range from about 15° in the early hours to 28° during the day, and the probability of short rain and thunderstorms will be higher in the afternoon hours.
The wind will be weak to moderate, most often from the northwest, and will provide brief cooling as cloud cores pass through. Since the region has no seawater, a swimming flag does not apply, but in the event of pronounced stormy clouds, it is best to avoid open spaces and high points.
Eastern Bulgaria
In Eastern Bulgaria, relatively warm and more often sunny weather will prevail, but cloudiness will develop in the afternoon, which will bring brief rainfall in some places. Maximum temperatures will be around 28°–31°, and morning temperatures – between 17° and 21°.
The wind will remain weak to moderate, and a sea breeze circulation will be felt near the sea. The seawater temperature along the eastern coast will be around 25–27°C, which maintains good conditions for the beach. For swimming, the guide is a yellow flag – the sea is suitable, but with increased caution due to wind and possible showers.
Western Bulgaria
In Western Bulgaria, July 24 will be more unstable. Cumulonimbus clouds, short-term rainfall, and possible thunderstorms are expected, especially after noon, and temperatures will remain in the 25°–30° range.
The wind will be moderate, with temporary increases in some places as precipitation cells pass through. There is no seawater, so a swimming flag does not apply, but for urban and mountain environments, the risk of local storm phenomena remains elevated.
In the mountains
In the mountain regions, the day will begin more calmly, but in the afternoon, there will be conditions for the development of cumulus and cumulonimbus clouds. Temperatures will be lower, moving around 12°–15° in the high areas, and up to about 22°–24° lower down in the mountain valleys.
The probability of rainfall will increase in the afternoon, and thunderstorms are also possible. The wind will be weak to moderate, with temporary increases in open and high parts. There is no seawater, and for outings and hikes, the assessment is rather cautious due to the unstable atmosphere.
Black Sea coast
Along the Black Sea coast, July 24 will remain one of the more suitable days for the sea, albeit with clouds at times. The air will warm up to about 26°–30°, and the probability of short-term showers will be more noticeable in the afternoon hours.
The seawater will be around 25–27°C, and the wind – weak to moderate, with possible temporary increases along the coast. This places the general assessment for swimming safety at a yellow flag – conditions are good, but not entirely risk-free due to the cloudiness, wind, and possible local rains.
