The gathering of evidence in the case of Sunny Beach, in which five people were injured on August 14, has concluded. The investigation materials have been handed over to the supervising prosecutor for final assessment. This was announced at a briefing by investigator Marian Marinov, spokesperson for the National Investigation Service (NSIS).

The events of August 14, which led to this phase of the investigation, mark a sad page. The incident in the resort took the life of 35-year-old Hristina. She was the mother of four-year-old Martin, who was also seriously injured and was transported by helicopter to a hospital in Sofia. In addition to them, three other people were admitted to a medical facility.

The accused in the case is 18-year-old Nikola Burgazliev.

Investigator Marinov also reported attempts to obstruct the course of the investigation. The defense of the accused requested the recusal of investigator Marinov on the grounds that he was biased due to informing the public about the course of the investigation. "I am categorically not biased," Marinov stated, emphasizing his position. He added that the supervising prosecutor refused to remove him from the case.

In addition, a request was made to invalidate the collected evidence by an investigator from the NSIS, and if it cannot be repeated, to exclude it from the evidentiary ensemble. The atmosphere in the briefing room was tense, reflecting the seriousness of the charges and the complexity of the legal process.

Regarding future steps, investigator Marinov explained that the indictment will be written after the presentation of the investigation materials. This will happen after the final indictment, which has been prepared and is ready. It will be presented by the supervising prosecutor at his discretion, after summoning the lawyers and the accused. This is expected to happen within a week.
