Serious violations during construction activities in Yambol

Another scandal has rocked the healthcare sector after an inspection uncovered a series of violations of the Spatial Development Act (SDA) during renovation work at the "St. Panteleimon" Multiprofile Hospital for Active Treatment in Yambol. The news was announced by Minister of Health Katya Ivkova during a briefing at the Council of Ministers.

The inspection was initiated by Minister Ivkova in June, following a personal visit to the medical facility which revealed serious irregularities.

Financial collapse and unfulfilled promises

The situation surrounding the hospital's new building is critical. According to Minister Ivkova, over 75 million BGN have been paid out for equipment and construction between 2019 and 2025. Despite these huge investments, an additional 4.3 million euros are currently required to complete the site.

We remind you that a month ago, Regional Governor Georgi Chalakov stated that work was underway on a plan to move the hospital into the new building by the end of 2025. Whether this is possible given the identified violations, however, remains in question.
