Silvia Rashkova achieved impressive results at the Freediving World Championship held in Cyprus and the subsequent depth competition. The athlete established five new national records in four different disciplines. This impressive success confirms her status, as she already holds the national records in all depth disciplines. The total number of her records now reaches thirteen.
The atmosphere of the championship is saturated with tension and anticipation. In every start, the determination of the competitors to reach new heights can be felt.
The first competition day of the championship was marked by an exceptional achievement by Silvia. She set a new national record in the CNF discipline (constant weight without fins). Interestingly, until that moment, she had not participated in a competition in this discipline.
In her second competition attempt, Silvia Rashkova declared 60 meters in the constant weight with bi-fins (CWTB) discipline. However, facing challenges with pressure equalization and the presence of a thermocline at depth, she was forced to abort at 54 meters. This earned her a yellow card.
The third competition day was marked by the FIM discipline – free immersion (pulling down and up the rope). Silvia dived to an impressive 64 meters depth. The athlete faced certain difficulties due to underwater currents, which complicated the task. Despite this, she managed to maintain self-control and successfully complete the dive, earning a second national record for the competition.
The fourth day of the competition was dedicated to the CWT discipline (constant weight). The successful dive of 60 meters brought Silvia a white card and a third national record.
Immediately after the World Championship, the subsequent competition began. In it, Silvia Rashkova made two successful starts in the CWTB discipline. She reached 64 and 67 meters depth, respectively. Both results were national records, with 67 meters representing her personal best.
Outside of her sporting career, Silvia Rashkova is a freediving instructor at the only freediving school in Bulgaria – Seanomad Freediving School. Six years ago, she decided to reorient her professional path, leaving the corporate world. Today, she teaches freediving as her main activity, striving to share the beauty and benefits of the underwater world with as many people as possible. She believes that diving can teach us a lot about everyday life.
