Deepening the Strategic Partnership between Bulgaria and the USA
Minister of Interior Ivan Demerdzhiev held a key meeting with the US Assistant Secretary of State for Diplomatic Security Todd Wilcox. The main focus of the conversation was the expansion of cooperation in the field of law enforcement.
"Together, we have contributed to improving the security of the busiest border of Bulgaria and the EU and prevented the illegal entry of criminal individuals," stated Todd Wilcox.
Key areas of cooperation:
- Combating transnational organized crime and drug trafficking.
- Countering cyber threats and terrorism.
- Limiting illegal migration through enhanced information exchange.
- Joint investigations and training between the Ministry of Interior and US agencies.
The Chargé d'Affaires of the US Embassy, Martin McDowell, emphasized that the relations between the two countries are a model for successful bilateral cooperation. Minister Demerdzhiev, for his part, confirmed that the USA remains a key strategic partner for Bulgaria in the protection of democratic institutions and the rule of law.
