New vignette prices starting August 2026
The Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works (MRDPW) has published a draft for public consultation, proposing a 30% increase in vignette prices. The change is expected to come into effect on August 1, 2026.
The increase aims to secure funds for urgent repairs of class III roads and to improve road safety.
How the prices are changing (in EUR)?
- Annual: 64.50 EUR (previously 49.60)
- Quarterly: 35.90 EUR (previously 27.61)
- Monthly: 19.90 EUR (previously 15.34)
- Weekly: 10 EUR (previously 7.67)
- Weekend: 6.60 EUR (previously 5.11)
- Daily: 5.30 EUR (previously 4.09)
What will the funds be used for?
According to the MRDPW, the expected additional revenue of over 20 million EUR in 2026 will be invested in:
- Major repairs of 7,000 km of second-class and third-class roads.
- Replacement of guardrails and installation of long-lasting thermoplastic road markings.
- Construction of autonomous LED lighting in high-risk zones.
- Modernization of the toll system.
The Ministry emphasizes that the choice of the August 1 date is intended to shift part of the fiscal burden onto foreign transit drivers, given the high traffic during the summer season.
