No trains are running through Sofia Central Station since 11:55am, because the overhead line has lost power.

The pantograph on a passenger train's locomotive burned through and broke, cutting the power. Emergency crews from the National Railway Infrastructure Company (NRIC) are at the scene fixing the damage.

Four commuter trains are not leaving: No. 50283 and No. 50280 from Sofia to Pernik and back, and No. 10221 and No. 10224 from Sofia to Kostenets and back.

The station has put a temporary traffic plan in place. Diesel shunting locomotives are pulling trains out to nearby stations.

On 20 October we reported that four trains between Burgas and Sofia will stay at Central Station during repairs: 3621 and 8627 from Sofia, and 8626 and 8612 from Burgas. The change runs from 2 November to 18 March 2027.

There is no word yet on when trains will run again.
