A new electric sports car, which will not be available for the American market, is preparing for its debut in Europe. This is the SC01 - a compact Chinese coupe, inspired by the legendary Lancia Stratos, which has already been officially confirmed for European customers.
The SC01 is equipped with two electric motors with a total power of 429 horsepower and a torque of 560 Nm. According to the manufacturer, the car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds. The 60 kWh battery is located directly behind the passenger compartment - in the place where the internal combustion engine is located in classic sports cars with a mid-engine.
Despite the electric drive, the SC01 is distinguished by its extremely low weight - 1365 kg, which puts it in the same category as the Porsche 718 Cayman. This is achieved thanks to a tubular space frame, aluminum body and pushrod suspension, characteristic of racing cars.
The design of the model follows a wedge shape and combines retro elements reminiscent of the Lancia Stratos with modern lines that resemble the Tesla Roadster. The length of the car is 411 cm, which makes it almost 20 cm longer than the Mazda MX-5 Miata.
The interior also relies on minimalism and a classic feel. The only screen is located behind the steering wheel and serves as an instrument panel. There is no central infotainment display, and the air conditioning is controlled by physical buttons. The model even has a traditional handbrake - a rarity in modern electric vehicles.
The company SC01 Europe has not yet announced an exact date for the market debut and the price of the car. However, it has been confirmed that only 1000 units will be produced for Europe, which makes the model a very limited series. Additional information is expected in the coming months.
The SC01 is positioned as a niche electric sports car aimed at enthusiasts looking for low weight, high dynamics and a direct driving feel - a concept that is becoming increasingly rare in the era of mass electrification. The price will be around 27 000 euros.
