Modernization of rail transport in Bulgaria

As of today, the phased commissioning of the new "Škoda" electric multiple unit trains begins. The official start was given by the Minister of Transport and Communications, Georgi Peev, at Sofia Central Railway Station.

This is the most extensive renewal of railway rolling stock in our country in more than two decades.

The funding for the trains is provided under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan. The first contract for the delivery was signed in September 2024, and the new machines are expected to significantly improve the quality of service on the main railway routes in the country.
