New anti-drone systems for the Bulgarian Army
Minister of Defense Dimitar Stoyanov announced that two new anti-drone systems are expected to arrive on Saturday. He specified that time is needed for the technological training of personnel before the systems can be fully operational. Two more machines are in the process of being acquired and are expected by the end of next week.
"There can never be 100 percent peace of mind regarding national security. There is no direct threat to us," stated Minister Stoyanov.
Drone and missile incidents
Regarding the drone that crashed in Bulgaria on August 8, the minister confirmed that official data from Ukraine is still awaited. The likely causes of the incident include:
- Technical failure of the GPS system;
- Loss of control over the drone;
- Lack of a targeted attack against the country's territory.
Regarding the signals to which the Naval Forces responded, Stoyanov specified that two reconnaissance drones (likely Russian) were discovered, as well as a missile engine that has already been destroyed.
Situation in Belitsa
The minister added that due to the state of disaster in the Belitsa area, a specialized team has been sent to perform cleanup and secure the region.
