The United States, for the first time since the ceasefire agreement was concluded, carried out strikes against Iranian targets in the Strait of Hormuz. The US military announced that the attacks were carried out as a response to an attack by an Iranian unmanned aerial vehicle against a commercial vessel in the strait on Thursday. The targets of the strikes were Iranian missile and drone depots.

In parallel, Iranian media reported explosions in the area of the city of Sirik in Hormozgan province, in the southern part of the country, where a section of the coast facing the Strait of Hormuz is located.

On June 17, the US and Iran signed an agreement, which provides for a 60-day ceasefire, the opening of the Strait of Hormuz to shipping, and the lifting of some US sanctions against Tehran.
